ORTLIEB-Warranty

The ORTLIEB warranty, limited to five years, is a voluntary warranty provided by the manufacturer. It grants additional rights independent of the rights granted by consumer protection laws. Should a product be replaced within the warranty period, the date of first delivery continues to apply to the five-year warranty period.

This worldwide, free of charge warranty of five years from delivery refers to material defects and processing errors. Scuff marks, holes and cracks caused by the customer's own fault are not covered by the warranty. Claims for defects due to normal wear and tear, improper use, non-observance of the assembly instructions, third-party intervention as well as due to improper storage are excluded. No warranty is given for damage due to improper care and improper use. As a rule, however, such damage can be repaired at cost price.

Consumer Protection Law

Important: The provisions of the ORTLIEB warranty, which is limited to five years, do not apply to claims arising from statutory consumer protection rights. These statutory rights are not limited by the warranty. Thus, the benefits under the five-year limited ORTLIEB warranty are intended to supplement and not replace the rights granted by consumer protection laws.

If a product is defective, consumers may in particular claim the rights under §§ 434 et seq., §§ 474 et seq. of the German BGB (German Civil Code). Consumers can choose whether to claim performance under the ORTLIEB warranty, which is limited to five years, or under their statutory consumer protection rights.

The first point of contact for warranty claims is always the specialist or online dealer with whom the purchase contract for the product was concluded. This warranty is subject to the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Part of ORTLIEB’s e-bike collection, the Trunk-Bag offers a volume of ten liters, which is enough storage space to take everything you need on a little bike tour.In addition to storage, the Trunk-Bag features a bottle mount, which is an elegant solution to the commonly challenging feat of mounting multiple bottle holders on an e-bike. The Trunk-Bag also has high-quality 3M Scotchlite reflector and dedicated space for attaching a rear light — a real plus in terms of safety. The exterior cord on the top enables a jacket to be stowed away quickly, and the outer mesh pocket is ideal for storing small things. But thanks to the magnetic lid closure, opening and closing the Trunk-Bag is so fast that anything can be stowed inside the bag almost as quickly. In the event that the bike is parked unattended, the Trunk-Bag with the top lock adapter can easily be removed from the bike with just one hand, and the shoulder strap makes carrying the bag with you comfortable and convenient.The Trunk-Bag can carry loads of up to 10 kilos / 22 lbs and is compatible with almost all luggage carriers 80 to 160 mm in width and with a tube diameter of 8 to 16 mm.

Risk of injury due to incorrectly attached products! Before riding, check that the product is securely fastened.
Risk of injury due to loose risers! Pull the carrying straps tight before each journey or stow them safely.
Risk of injury due to loose components on the product. Screws can loosen over time due to vibrations. Therefore, check the screws after 10 km, 50 km, 100 km and 200 km and retighten if necessary.
Risk of injury due to material breakage if overloaded! Do not exceed the maximum payload of 10 kg. If necessary, weigh your load to ensure that you do not exceed the maximum payload.
Risk of injury if used with non-compatible luggage carriers! The Toplock system can only be mounted securely on luggage carriers with parallel upper tubes. Make sure that the upper tubes of your luggage carrier run parallel.

What is the difference between the various Trunk-Bags?

All Trunk-Bags are waterproof and use the Top-Lock adapter system for secure mounting on the top of the luggage rack. They can be attached with one simple movement and removed just as easily.

The Trunk-Bags RC and RC Urban feature a roll closure that also serves as a carrying handle.
The Urban version is made of a textile Cordura blend, offering an elegant and everyday-suitable look.
The classic Trunk-Bag, on the other hand, uses a magnetic lid closure, an integrated bottle holder, and an elastic cord fixture on the top.

Can I attach a rear light to the Trunk-Bag?

Yes, all ORTLIEB Trunk-Bags have a mounting option for a rear light. The mount is located on the back of the bag and is compatible with standard rear lights. In addition, a large 3M Scotchlite reflector ensures better visibility in traffic, especially in darkness or rain.

How securely does the bag sit on the luggage rack?

Thanks to the Top-Lock adapter system, the Trunk-Bag sits securely and stably on the luggage rack. An anti-slip feature prevents the bag from moving during vibrations or on cobblestones. The audible click when it locks into place confirms that the bag is securely attached. Despite its stable fixation, it can be released with one simple movement when you want to take it with you.

How does the Top-Lock adapter system work?

The Top-Lock adapter system is a universal mounting solution for bags and baskets on the top of a luggage rack. Two opposing clamps with non-slip inserts are adjusted once to the width of the rack. To attach the bag, simply press down lightly until the system audibly clicks into place. To remove it, press one of the release levers, and the bag detaches immediately. Non-slip inserts and special knobs ensure a secure and stable fit even on rough terrain. The system is compatible with almost all luggage racks with a width of 80 to 160 millimeters and tube diameters of 8 to 16 millimeters.
