ORTLIEB-Warranty

The ORTLIEB warranty, limited to five years, is a voluntary warranty provided by the manufacturer. It grants additional rights independent of the rights granted by consumer protection laws. Should a product be replaced within the warranty period, the date of first delivery continues to apply to the five-year warranty period.

This worldwide, free of charge warranty of five years from delivery refers to material defects and processing errors. Scuff marks, holes and cracks caused by the customer's own fault are not covered by the warranty. Claims for defects due to normal wear and tear, improper use, non-observance of the assembly instructions, third-party intervention as well as due to improper storage are excluded. No warranty is given for damage due to improper care and improper use. As a rule, however, such damage can be repaired at cost price.

Consumer Protection Law

Important: The provisions of the ORTLIEB warranty, which is limited to five years, do not apply to claims arising from statutory consumer protection rights. These statutory rights are not limited by the warranty. Thus, the benefits under the five-year limited ORTLIEB warranty are intended to supplement and not replace the rights granted by consumer protection laws.

If a product is defective, consumers may in particular claim the rights under §§ 434 et seq., §§ 474 et seq. of the German BGB (German Civil Code). Consumers can choose whether to claim performance under the ORTLIEB warranty, which is limited to five years, or under their statutory consumer protection rights.

The first point of contact for warranty claims is always the specialist or online dealer with whom the purchase contract for the product was concluded. This warranty is subject to the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany.

The ultimate bike rack! The ORTLIEB Rack Three offers you the right solution, whether you’re on your way to work, the grocery store or around the world. One unique advantage of this all-purpose bike rack is its compatibility with all ORTLIEB attachment systems. Outfitted with convenient mounting elements for the QL3 and QL3.1 systems, the Rack Three allows you to attach all ORTLIEB bags directly to your bike without any other modifications. If you want to use the Rack Three exclusively for your QL2.1/2/1 bags, you can easily remove the attachment elements for the QL3.1/QL3 and thereby create even more space for your panniers.
The Rack Three’s double-rail design allows you to attach all bike bags with a QL2.1, QL2 or QL1 system to a top level or a lower level. Selecting the lower level gives you the option of simultaneously attaching a bike basket or a Trunk-Bag to the top of your bike rack and expanding your overall stowage space.

Risk of injury due to insufficient clearance between luggage rack (and/or mudguard) and tire. The distance between the luggage carrier (and/or mudguard) and the tire must be at least 20 mm. Check the distance after mounting.

What is the difference between the Rack Three and the Quick-Rack?

Quick-Racks are removable and ideal if you want to use your bike flexibly. They can be mounted or removed within seconds and leave your bike clean and free of permanently attached parts.

The Rack Three, on the other hand, is firmly bolted to the bike and carries loads of up to 30 kg. Its sturdy construction is designed for long tours or daily commuting.

Can I mount the Rack-Three on a carbon bike?

The Rack-Three can be mounted on carbon frames as long as the appropriate mounting points are available. For safety, check with the bike manufacturer to ensure that these mounting points are suitable for mounting racks. If this is not possible, we recommend mounting via the Thru Axle M6-Connector with one of our Quick-Rack models.

Can I attach a child seat or dog basket to the Rack-Three?

No, the Rack-Three is not approved for transporting children. Baskets or dog baskets can be used if they are designed for racks with a 120 mm support surface and do not exceed a total weight of 30 kg.

Does the Rack-Three fit all frame sizes and tire types?

The Rack-Three fits bikes with 26- or 28-inch wheels and tire widths up to 55 mm (2.15 inches). Mounting eyelets (M5 or M6) on the dropouts and seat stays are required. It is not intended for mounting on the Thru Axle M6-Connector.

Can the Rack-Three be mounted on full-suspension mountain bikes (fullies)?

No, the Rack-Three is designed for classic rigid frames and trekking bikes. On full-suspension bikes, the rear triangle moves, meaning a fixed frame connection would not remain reliably stable. For full-suspension bikes, the Quick-Racks are the better alternative.

How easy is it to remove and reattach the Rack-Three?

The Rack-Three is bolted firmly to the bike and not designed for tool-free removal. If you are looking for a rack that can be mounted and removed within seconds, the Quick-Racks are the better choice.
