ORTLIEB-Warranty

The ORTLIEB warranty, limited to five years, is a voluntary warranty provided by the manufacturer. It grants additional rights independent of the rights granted by consumer protection laws. Should a product be replaced within the warranty period, the date of first delivery continues to apply to the five-year warranty period.

This worldwide, free of charge warranty of five years from delivery refers to material defects and processing errors. Scuff marks, holes and cracks caused by the customer's own fault are not covered by the warranty. Claims for defects due to normal wear and tear, improper use, non-observance of the assembly instructions, third-party intervention as well as due to improper storage are excluded. No warranty is given for damage due to improper care and improper use. As a rule, however, such damage can be repaired at cost price.

Consumer Protection Law

Important: The provisions of the ORTLIEB warranty, which is limited to five years, do not apply to claims arising from statutory consumer protection rights. These statutory rights are not limited by the warranty. Thus, the benefits under the five-year limited ORTLIEB warranty are intended to supplement and not replace the rights granted by consumer protection laws.

If a product is defective, consumers may in particular claim the rights under §§ 434 et seq., §§ 474 et seq. of the German BGB (German Civil Code). Consumers can choose whether to claim performance under the ORTLIEB warranty, which is limited to five years, or under their statutory consumer protection rights.

The first point of contact for warranty claims is always the specialist or online dealer with whom the purchase contract for the product was concluded. This warranty is subject to the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Whether you’re riding singletrack, mountain passes or gravel routes, with the waterproof Seat-Pack QR you are ready for every bike adventure. With the innovative and patented Seat-Lock attachment system and abrasion-resistant nylon fabric, the bag is super stable, quickly mounted and just as quickly removed without leaving any residue. And with the help of a special adapter of just 4.3 centimeter in width, this bag can even be used with a dropper post. The internal reinforcement and five compression straps ensure that the contents are packed tightly and securely. A valve with a handle strap helps to compress the pack volume, and the elastic cord on the outside allows for the attachment of additional gear. To prevent damage from tire contact, a protective plate is attached to the underside of the Seat-Pack QR, which also doubles as a fender.

Compatibility note

You can easily check if your saddle is compatible:

The saddle rails must have a bend of at least 34°.
The seat post clamp must be at least 13 mm from the middle of the bend in the saddle rail. There must also be at least 13 mm from the middle of the bend to where the rail connects to the back of the saddle.
The bottom edge of the saddle (at the side) must be at least 14 mm higher than the bottom edge of the saddle rail.

The following products are not suitable:

Saddles with carbon fiber rails
Suspension seatposts
Saddles with unusual saddle rails e.g. SQLab Active, Brooks B67 (see point 2 above)
Electronic dropper posts e.g. Rock Shox AXS or Magura Vyron

If you still have problems mounting the Seat Pack QR for the first time, try moving the Seat Lock System as far forward on the bag as possible and loosen the bolts to find a fitting position. This is the easiest position for initial mounting – you can then adjust the position for the best fit. The fitting instructions have further information and tips.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Seat-Pack QR fit my saddle?

The Seat-Pack QR fits most standard saddles with steel or titanium rails, as well as seat posts with a diameter of 22 to 35 mm. It is important that the saddle frame rises by at least 34° at the bend and provides 13 mm of clearance both to the clamp and to the underside of the saddle. The lower edge of the saddle should be at least 14 mm higher than the lower edge of the frame.
Carbon saddles, suspension seat posts, or models with special rail designs such as the Brooks B67 or SQLab Active are not compatible. A detailed compatibility overview can be found on the product page.

What is the difference between the Seat-Pack and the Seat-Pack QR?

The Seat-Pack is mounted in the classic way using robust hook-and-loop straps on the seat post. It is lightweight, durable, and ideal if you want to leave your bikepacking setup permanently on the bike.
The Seat-Pack QR features a quick-release system that allows you to mount or remove the bag quickly and without tools. This is especially practical if you switch it frequently or use it on several bikes. Additionally, the QR model is particularly compatible with dropper posts.

Can I mount the Seat-Pack QR on a carbon seat post?

Yes, the Seat-Pack can be mounted on carbon seat posts. We recommend applying protective film at the contact points to avoid abrasion and damage.

How easy is it to mount the Seat-Pack QR?

Mounting is particularly easy thanks to the Seat-Lock system. The bag is securely hooked onto the saddle frame using two levers and fixed to the seat post with an adapter clamp. This allows the Seat-Pack QR to be mounted stably within seconds and removed just as quickly, without tools or residue.

How long is my warranty?

The Seat-Pack QR is designed for longevity and often accompanies you for decades. To give you peace of mind regarding durability, we offer a five-year warranty on materials and workmanship. If the Seat-Pack QR does get damaged, almost every component from straps to buckles can be repaired. Even if a model is no longer produced, spare parts remain available for at least ten years.
