ORTLIEB-Warranty

The ORTLIEB warranty, limited to five years, is a voluntary warranty provided by the manufacturer. It grants additional rights independent of the rights granted by consumer protection laws. Should a product be replaced within the warranty period, the date of first delivery continues to apply to the five-year warranty period.

This worldwide, free of charge warranty of five years from delivery refers to material defects and processing errors. Scuff marks, holes and cracks caused by the customer's own fault are not covered by the warranty. Claims for defects due to normal wear and tear, improper use, non-observance of the assembly instructions, third-party intervention as well as due to improper storage are excluded. No warranty is given for damage due to improper care and improper use. As a rule, however, such damage can be repaired at cost price.

Consumer Protection Law

Important: The provisions of the ORTLIEB warranty, which is limited to five years, do not apply to claims arising from statutory consumer protection rights. These statutory rights are not limited by the warranty. Thus, the benefits under the five-year limited ORTLIEB warranty are intended to supplement and not replace the rights granted by consumer protection laws.

If a product is defective, consumers may in particular claim the rights under §§ 434 et seq., §§ 474 et seq. of the German BGB (German Civil Code). Consumers can choose whether to claim performance under the ORTLIEB warranty, which is limited to five years, or under their statutory consumer protection rights.

The first point of contact for warranty claims is always the specialist or online dealer with whom the purchase contract for the product was concluded. This warranty is subject to the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany.

The zipper pulls can be secured with a buckle and strap, and also help to compress the duffle for an optimized pack size. An additional compression strap on the inside ensures that your luggage is securely stowed and stays in place.
With a removable inner compartment, the Duffle Lite offers flexible organization options, while the practical zippered compartment on the outside allows quick access to frequently needed items.
Daisy chains on the outside provide additional attachment points for further equipment – ideal for backpackers and adventurers who need optional space for accessories.
Flexibility is a top priority with the well-designed Duffle Lite: it can be carried both as a travel bag in the hand and, thanks to the comfortable and ergonomic shoulder straps, as a backpack.
Another pro tip for a packed duffle: place the inner compartment under the zipper to make it easier to thread and to protect the contents from possible pinching.

What is the difference between the Rack-Pack and the Duffle?

The Rack-Pack is a versatile all-purpose bag with up to 31 liters of volume and, like the Duffle RC, features a roll closure. It gets its name from the ability to combine it directly on the luggage rack with ORTLIEB Back-Rollers or Sport-Rollers. Duffles, on the other hand, are larger travel bags with padded shoulder straps that can also be comfortably worn as a backpack.

Pack heavy items at the bottom and lighter ones on top. To avoid wrinkles in your clothes, you can simply roll them to save space or use small organizers like Packing Cubes. These help you structure the large main compartment even better and compress folded clothing.

How much volume should my travel bag have?

That depends on how long you are traveling and how much you want to take with you. Here is a quick orientation:

30 L: Ideal for weekend trips or short business travel. Typical carry-on size for flights.
40 L: Suitable for 3-4 day trips. Fits roughly as much as a full laundry basket.
